Cheti Chand

Cheti Chand is one of the most important festivals in the Sindhi community and is celebrated to commemorate the birth of Sindhi's philanthropist Saint Jhulelal. This festival is celebrated as the Sindh New Year and falls on his second day of the bright moon week (Shukrapaksha) of the month of Chaitra. On this eve, people pray to the mighty Lord Varun (God of Water) for prosperity and wealth. Jhulelal is considered an incarnation of the water god. Chetichand not only has religious significance, but Sindhu equally boasts of the traditional values and beliefs of his community.
