Holi, the festival of colors and happiness, and Vasant Utsav, falls on Pratipada in the dark half (Krishna Paksha) of the Chaitra month according to the Hindu calendar. If Pratipada spans his two days, the first day is considered the day of Durandhi (Vasant Tsakh or Holi). Holi also celebrates the arrival of spring, drawing inspiration from its colours. This festival is also known as Durandi, a popular name in Haryana.
